The Challenge: An Overlooked New Build
There’s nothing better as a designer to work with a blank canvas and when your clients are enthusiastic green fingered, it makes it all that much better. They had their own concept sketches of what they wanted to achieve and already a garden full of their favourite plants.
However, being a typical new build, the garden was overlooked by neighbouring houses, the lawn sloped in all directions and the patio installed was to a typical new build specification and wasn’t even big enough for the clients to sit back and relax. So, we sat down together, looked through their sketches and let the magic happen….
Our Solution
The clients had the opportunity to enjoy the garden prior to the new installation which allowed them to know where the sun was at different times of the day and which areas of the garden were overlooked and exposed the most.
The whole garden was designed around this central hub using mild steel. This allowed the steel to naturally rust overtime as well as creating a great colour and texture to contrast with the lawn and planting.
We created several hardstanding areas for either relaxing or entertaining, using a contrast of materials for interest throughout the garden. We helped the clients plant up the larger specimen trees and shrubs but left them to truly bring the garden to life with the amazing scheme they put together
The End Result
Bigger doesn’t always mean better! This beautiful garden really does pack a punch! With an amazing planting scheme, centralised around a tranquil water feature, this garden can be enjoyed from every angle.
The stepping stone pathway leads you from the centre of the lower terrace, to the beautiful central water feature. Here you have the option of either strolling to the main entertaining terrace or simply to go sit, relax and enjoy the garden and the wildlife the amazing planting brings from their stunning wooden swing.
